Guiding Your Lab Through a Major Systems Change

<p>Implementing a new laboratory information system can affect nearly every part of a lab—from workflows and responsibilities to communication and day-to-day expectations. For organizational leaders; the challenge is not only managing the technical transition but also helping people understand; adopt; and sustain the change.<br />
Drawing on firsthand experience leading staff through a laboratory information system transition; this session will explore the leadership decisions that can keep a major change effort moving forward. Attendees will learn how to identify key stakeholders; choose the right people to help lead the effort; manage scope creep; and keep staff engaged throughout implementation. The session will also address maintaining momentum when challenges arise; communicating through uncertainty; anticipating common pitfalls; and using small wins to reinforce progress along the way.<br />
