Managing an Underperforming Lab

<p>A lab may be hitting its deadlines but struggling with quality. Another may have capable staff but still struggle to meet expectations for output. When performance problems extend beyond one employee or team; senior leaders have to look across the lab to understand what is getting in the way—and what needs to change.<br />
This session will focus on how leaders can assess an underperforming lab at the organizational level; distinguish symptoms from root causes; and set realistic priorities for improvement. Attendees will explore how to evaluate performance across people; processes; workload; resources; and leadership; establish clear expectations and measures of progress; and make difficult decisions when existing approaches are not producing results. The session will also address how to communicate changes; maintain accountability; and give teams the structure and support needed to improve performance over time.<br />
