Giving Supervisors Room to Lead Their Way

Supervisors and team leads will not always manage people the way you would—and that does not necessarily mean they are doing it wrong. The challenge for leaders is knowing when different styles can strengthen a team and when differences begin to create confusion; inconsistency; or performance issues.
This session will focus on how to manage leaders whose communication; decision-making; coaching; or team-management approaches differ from your own. Attendees will learn how to separate personal preference from true performance concerns; set clear expectations around the outcomes and behaviors that matter; and give supervisors enough autonomy to develop their own leadership style while maintaining consistency across the organization.
Key learnings
Attendees will learn how to:
Distinguish between a different leadership style and a genuine management problem
Set clear expectations without requiring supervisors to lead exactly as you would
Balance leadership autonomy with consistency across teams
Coach supervisors when differences in approach begin to affect staff; performance; or team alignment
