Duane Newton, PhD he/him

Duane Newton, PhD, is a board-certified clinical microbiologist with more than 20 years of experience as a laboratory director in public health and academic medical center settings. In 2020, he transitioned to the private sector, collaborating with companies focused on developing innovative laboratory diagnostic products. In 2023, Duane founded DWN Consulting, where he offers career development coaching to individuals in scientific and clinical fields. Through this venture, he is pursuing his passion for guiding scientists at all career stages as they identify and navigate their authentic professional and personal paths.

Duane recently returned to the laboratory environment, where he currently serves as the Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases, in the Bureau of Laboratories for the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services in Lansing, MI.
